Description: BLM land The exit from Colorado Highway 69 north of Texas Creek is BLM road 6038 at 38.38231 -105.58132 on west side of road. It is a road to a abandon mine. It is accessible by 2 wheel drive high clearance vehicle. I would not recommend a trailer. The road is about a 50% effort for a 2 wheel drive high clearance vehicle. There are alternate campsites toward this site. Bear left ascending and left turn at the rusted out bus body. The camp site is a treeless abandon machinery site on a shelf with a old rickety safety rail. The view is worth the effort, overlooking the creek 500 feet below the Sangre De Cristo mountain in the Wet Mountain valley. I think a sunrise would be worth the trip. This location is private and there should be several minutes warning of a vehicle approaching.
