Francis Marion National Forest

Open camping area, 4 miles off rt 17. About 1/4 of that is dirt road, a few potholes but drivable in any car. I towed a 24 camper in and had no problem. Site is nice size. No dedicated sites. Just pick a spot. Plenty of deadfall wood for fires. Feels very safe. Ranger has been through the site twice. Can stay up to 14 days at this National Forest. There are also other locations nearby similar and still in the national forest.

Jan 2023: On a Thursday night in January there were about a half dozen trailers and a few tents, none seemed to be together . We were greeted by a couple of free roaming pit bulls. The area/campsite had a real ‘Deliverance’ feel. We opted to go elsewhere.

A park pass required: No
There is cell service at this location: Yes
4X4 or AWD is required to access this location: No
Showers nearby: No
Potable water nearby: Yes
Toilets nearby: Yes
Level of confidence the site is free:
Maybe - Others were camped/parked here overnight without issue.
