Site Details

Downstream Of Red Bank Campground

A superb, hidden boondocking site, just downstream (west) of the Red Bank Campground (also free)

If you are traveling west on Sawyers Bar Road, it’s a sharp left about 1/2 mile past the Red Bank CG. A 1/4 mile dirt road leads to a large flat area (with a couple of fire rings) right along the NF Salmon

In summer, it’s a beautiful swimming hole. In spring when the river is running full tilt, I would be very careful since this is a serious section of Class 4+ whitewater

Level of confidence the site is free: Most likely - Site is on public lands.
Toilets nearby: None
4X4 or high clearance required: Helpful but not required
Cell service available: No
Park pass or permit required: No
Showers nearby: No
Potable water nearby: Yes
Type of property: USFS (US Forest Service)
