Cibola National Forest

Forest road 542 is pretty rough from this direction but 1/10 mile from the corner there is a large open area. Although not flat it's not a steep incline. There are many more campsites further in but the road was too rough for me to be comfortable pulling it further. I did talk to a local who was out here hiking. He said if 542 hooks into 252 and if you go about 2 miles further on Juan Tomas Rd, you will find 252 and it is a fairly easy dirt road back to a bunch of sites.

Level of confidence the site is free: Certain - Confirmed with a sign or by owner / agency / website.
Toilets nearby: None
4X4 or AWD required: Possibly
Cell service available: AT&T
Park pass or permit required: No
Showers nearby: No
Potable water nearby: No

March 2022: 25m x 50m rocky, sloped terrain. Accessible in a vehicle with 12” or better ground clearance up a rather steep initial climb (np for pickup w 24’ tow behind). Plenty of room but not level anywhere. About 200m from hardball road so some traffic noise by day, rare at night. Not far from Tijeras, and private save for 4x4 traffic by day. Would not recommend for class A vehicles or small, 2wd cars.
