US Forest Service Campground, Red Shale, a few miles east of Ashland, Montana on the Custer National Forest. Two loops, with well spaced sites just off of Highway 212. Open pine forest so shade can be fleeting. About 12 sites total. No water, vault toilets, picnic area, no fees. Tables and fire rings at each site. Very peaceful. No problem getting in with 33’ travel trailer. Kinda close to the road can hear traffic, but still worth it. We would stay here again.
